Shabbat and Shavuot Services Including Yizkor and Board Installation

Friday, June 2, 6:00 p.m. pre-neg; ice cream social in honor of Shavuot

Parashat Nasso

Board host: Phebe Rand
Oneg host: Phebe Rand, Frisch Family

As the Omer concludes, we celebrate the holiday of Shavuot. This pilgrimage festival celebrates our receiving of the Torah at Sinai. It occurs at the conclusion of the counting of the omer, the seven “weeks” (“shavuot” in Hebrew) between the exodus from slavery and the revelation at Sinai. It is traditional to light a yahrzeit candle for our loved ones at Shavuot (and each of the pilgrimage holidays), to study Torah late into the night, and to eat sweet dairy products like cheesecake and blintzes.

We will also honor and welcome those serving on the TEMV Board in the coming year and thank those who are stepping down.

A brief Yizkor service will be included that we may remember ALL of our loved ones. We will also specifically recall those whose yahrzeiten fall at this time of year.

Members Needed for TEMV Security Committee

Welcoming members and guests is an important aspect of the culture at TEMV. We want to continue to give everyone a warm welcome, and yet it is very important to do so in a manner that keeps everyone in the building and parking lot safe and secure. We also need to create a TEMV Security Manual that is a resource for all types of emergencies, including weather and medical emergencies, building malfunctions, and of course, security situations such as threatening phone calls or suspicious people, vehicles, objects, etc. Please consider being a member of this committee. No formal training or background is needed–just a dedication to keeping our congregation safe and sound. Please contact Robin Frisch if you are interested.
