Lowell Soup Kitchen

Sunday, June 18, 3:30 p.m.

We will be helping with the Soup Kitchen at the Salvation Army, 150 Appleton St., Lowell. Set up (just the food, not tables and chairs) is at 3:30; dinner is served 4:30 to 5:30, followed by clean up. We are going to serve approximately 70 people, and we still need:

  • Green salad
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Hamburger buns
  • Condiments: mayo, mustard, ketchup
  • Paper products (plates, utensils)
  • Lemonade, juice

If you are able to bring any of these items, or if you are able to help set up, serve, or clean up, please contact Jill Barry (978-701-5223) by Friday 6/16/17.

Iftar

Sunday, June 18, 7:30 p.m.

TEMV and Peace Islands Institute are pleased to host an interfaith evening of nourishment for the mind and body on Sunday, June 18, beginning at 7:30pm. Join us for an iftar, a Ramadan break-the- fast and study with local leaders. We anticipate guests from Peace Islands Institute, GLILA, and the Islamic Society of Greater Lowell, who will provide some of our repast.

All are welcome, and encouraged to bring a pot-luck dish, such as salad, fruit, pasta, drinks, etc., to share (please observe dietary restrictions by bringing only vegetarian dishes, or meat dishes that are kosher/halal and do not contain dairy). Kindly observe modest/business casual attire, and RSVP to iftar@temv.org before 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, so that we can plan food and space accordingly.

Upcoming

Birthday and Anniversary Blessings

We want to celebrate you! On Friday, June 23rd, we will turn our Sun Wheel in honor of the summer solstice. During this service, those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries June through September will be invited to come up to the bimah for a joyous blessing. Birthday and anniversary blessings will be offered four times a year as we turn our Sun Wheel to welcome each season. Please write to Robin Frisch with your birthday and anniversary dates so we can extend a personal invitation when it is time for you to receive your special blessings.

Lowell Spinners Game

Join TEMV friends and family for a baseball game at LaLecheur Park for a Lowell Spinners baseball game. Contact Phebe for tickets. Prior to the game, all kids are welcome to play catch on the field from 4:30-5:00!

Food and Toiletry Collections

There are boxes in the lobby waiting to be filled with your generous donations.  All donations go to local charities. Thank you!

TEMV Yoga

Gentle yoga: Monday, 8:30 a.m.;  RSVP required by Sunday at 12 noon. On holidays this class meets at 9 am.

Attendance at this class has been low recently. If you wish to attend yoga on Monday morning, please contact Cornelia at yogainfo@temv.org preferably by Sunday afternoon. If at least three people say they are coming she will let you know. Please leave your phone number—preferably a cell phone number—in your email.

Yoga: Wednesday, 6:30 p.m.

Please bring a mat.

It’s hard to believe, but Cornelia has been teaching TEMV Yoga for nine years and has requested a well-deserved rate increase. The cost will now be $10 for the teacher and a $3 donation for the temple.
