From the Treasurer
Everyone who made a donation to TEMV in 2017 should have received a letter which included the total amount that is tax deductible. The same letter included the amount you pledged for the 2017-2018 Fiscal Year and how much of that pledge is still outstanding. Please send your final pledge payment and donations for the current Fiscal Year by April 30, 2018, when the year ends. If you did not receive the letter or have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out. You may also pay via PayPal on our website. (Note that PayPal takes a 2.2% + $0.30 per transaction fee.)
Thank you for your continued support of TEMV,
Phebe
Upcoming
Adult Learning
Service Leaders’ Seminar: Join Rabbi Sparr to learn service leading basics. If you’ve got some basic knowledge of Hebrew reading and familiarity with the Shabbat evening prayers, you, too, can lead a Shabbat evening service. Rabbi Sparr will explain the core outline of the service structure and provide opportunities for each member to practice outlining a service and receive coaching while leading a small section. This course will be scheduled to accommodate those who wish to attend. Please email rabbi@temv.org to let the rabbi know of your interest and dates available.
Please visit this page for details of other upcoming opportunities at TEMV!
Also, note the upcoming “The Music of Jewish Life” program from our friends at the Merrimack Valley Jewish Federation.
Be a Part of L’dor Vador: The TEMV Storytelling Project
As soon as possible!
Please record your own video (ideally, under three-minutes) via smartphone or other device with your thoughts about what makes TEMV special to you. Send it to us via the free and simple wetransfer.com service. (Please do not send us video files via your usual e-mail service, as they are generally too big to handle easily via e-mail.) We will likely also have another day of recording at the temple (with recording equipment already set up) for those who prefer to do it that way. Parents: We welcome children’s participation, but you must confirm that this is okay with you.
You may also send written reflections to publicity@temv.org as plain e-mail, a Microsoft Word document, Google Doc, or PDF. We may edit gently for typos.
We will compile all of the videos and all of the written reflections into items to share with our community. You will also have the option of allowing us to share your videos and/or writings on TEMV’s public website and social media channels so that the wider world in Lowell and beyond can learn more about the community we have created here at TEMV.
Mitzvah Day
Sunday, April 29, 10:00 a.m.
We will begin to prepare the Temple building for whatever may be next for it. Our focus will be an initial clean up of the Principal’s office downstairs. If there are enough people we may also begin to clean up another area. There will be tasks for all ages and abilities.
Please reserve this time to help our Temple community. We will release a full schedule for the day later.
