    Pajama Havdallah

    February 6, 2021 @ 4:15 pm - 5:15 pm

Experience the beauty and magic of Havdallah with Rabbi Sparr and Morah Rosen. We will learn about the mystical ceremony for concluding Shabbat, hear a story, sing some songs, make a craft, and then perform the Havdallah ceremony together.

Everyone is welcome to come in their favorite pajamas, and to invite friends (real, imaginary, or stuffed) to join us for this special Shabbat afternoon event on Zoom. This program is particularly geared to children ages 2 to 9 and their grown-ups, but ALL are welcome to participate!

Non-members are invited to register here.

    NCJW Repro Shabbat

    February 12, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The Shabbat of Feb 12 – 13, Shabbat Mishpatim, has been designated by the National Council of Jewish Women as “Repro Shabbat” (as in Reproductive Rights) because the parasha includes the verses that are the basis for the Jewish understanding that life begins at birth. Our Reform movement stands strongly in support of protecting a woman’s right to choose and is a co-sponsor of this Shabbat. Vassar Temple has signed on as a participating congregation and will address this topic during services Friday night. Vassar Temple members who volunteer as Planned Parenthood Escorts will talk about this important program and will share some of their personal experiences.

We are pleased to welcome two Reform congregations who, thanks to Zoom, will be joining us for the service and program: Temple Concord in Binghamton, NY, and Temple Emanuel of the Merrimack Valley in Lowell, MA.

If we were able to be physically together and had such visitors with us, we would ask everyone to wear name tags to introduce themselves to one another. Instead, we are asking everyone to add to their screen name on Zoom initials for their congregation:

    VT – Vassar Temple
    TC – Temple Concord
TEMV - Temple Emanuel of the Merrimack Valley.
