Lulav

Sukkot and Tot Shabbat Services

Friday, October 18, 2019

As is traditional for our community, we will celebrate Sukkot on Shabbat this Friday at TEMV:

  • 6:00 p.m. Tot Shabbat
  • 6:30 p.m. Pizza and potluck: Please RSVP to pizza@temv.org so we know how much to order
  • 7:30 p.m. Shabbat Sukkot service including yizkor (memorial service)

TEMV members are also welcome at any time during Sukkot to fulfill the mitzvah of “dwelling” in our sukkah, which is housed in the nearby backyard of one of our members. (If you would like details, please e-mail info@temv.org.) Please feel free to come and have a bite to eat, and to wave the lulav and etrog. (Lulav, etrog, blessings, and instructions are on site.)

Simchat Torah Celebration for the Whole Community

Sunday, October 20, 11 a.m.

Everyone in the TEMV community (and beyond!) is invited to join us this Sunday at our Simchat Torah celebration, which will include a short service, Consecration of new Religious School students, and unrolling of the entire scroll. Please plan to join us!

Rabbi Sparr Office Hours

Office hours Sunday this week. Appointments must be made in advance by contacting her at rabbi@temv.org or during business hours at 508-736-5555. In an emergency or urgent need, do phone at any hour.

Religious School

Sunday, October 20. 11:00 a.m.

Religious school programming at 10, and a Simchat Torah celebration for everyone at 11:00, including a short service, Consecration of new students, and unrolling of the entire scroll. Please plan to join us!

High Holy Day Food Collection

This is the last chance to contribute to the High Holy Day food collection for people who are homebound. Please bring food for people and their pets to the Temple. Thank you to those who have already contributed!

Social Action Committee Meeting

Sunday, October 27, 12:30 p.m.

We will be discussing events for this year as well as having a knit-in for a couple of hours to make hats for premature infants at Lowell General Hospital. Please bring supplies; snacks will be provided.

Mah Jong

Thursday, October 17, 1:00 p.m..

Are you interested in playing or learning to play? If so, contact mahjong@temv.org with your availability (days of the week and time). Beginners are always welcome and temple membership is not a prerequisite. We are always open to suggestions for other games as well!

2019-20 Pledges Due

Please remember that if we have not received your pledge form or an initial pledge payment that specifically states it is intended for membership, then you are not considered a member and will miss out on the benefits of membership. Thank you for your continued support and understanding. These pledges are the regular income on which we all rely. You may also pay online, or contact Phebe, our co-treasurer, at treasurer@temv.org if you have any questions.

Volunteer to Host an Oneg

Please email oneg@temv.org with your preferred dates. ​We ask all members to sign up to host twice. You just need to bring a challah and help with setup and cleanup. Other foods are potluck. It’s one simple way to help the community! Please also see our full calendar of events.

Food and Toiletry Collection

There is a box in the TEMV lobby for non-perishable food and toiletry items, to be donated to the the Merrimack Valley Food Bank and Lowell Transitional Living Center.
